Yawning void

3 channel video/sound installation, 2003

By Mader Stublic Wiermann and Echo Ho

DESCRIPTION

“The visitor encounters large projections on the three walls of a closed-off space. They show movie-like sequences, configuring various spaces, in which an actor is performing. It is the spectator, however, who, at the same time, is at the centre of the scenario. The sequences, which, in part, are repeated, although with slight variations in point of view, seem to be carefully coordinated. They open up existential and immaterial spaces to the spectator, until their spatio-temporal coordinates start dissolving, finally resulting in a uniform grey covering all three screens. From there a loop brings the visitor back to the beginning, which, however, is a different one. A change of direction seems to have been triggered, the protagonist seems to reverse the course of his actions.”
